One member described how the provisional program changed her life. "It is not too good to be true. It is the real thing."

What about pre-existing conditions?

Good news! We do take people with pre-existing conditions. 97% of our applications are accepted. You might be surprised. If you have a pre-existing condition it won't cost anything to apply and see if your current condition is a problem. It will only take a few minutes of your time.

In many cases we can accept members with health concerns without any stipulations. However, depending on the actual condition, the status and the severity of that condition, there are four additional options that may be taken by the group.

  1. Accept you, but exclude expenses for a specific condition.
  2. Accept the condition as a pre-existing condition which will be excluded from sharing for a period of 12 months. After 12 months $25,000 of medical expenses for said condition will be eligible for sharing. After 24 months $50,000 of medical expenses will be eligible and after 36 months there are no limitations on what can be shared. The pre-existing condition is no longer pre-existing!
  3. Accept you, but refer you to our provisional program which is designed to help those individuals with pre-existing conditions. Our provisional program is designed to help people lead healthier lives by assigning them a health coach. This coach will help you work through the life style changes necessary to change your habits which should immediately begin to show progress and health improvements. Once a normal condition is reached then the individual will be granted normal membership.
  4. In rare cases a prospective member may be rejected. Applications go through a simple pre-qualification process. No money is charged prior to acceptance.
Please review this page on the Liberty HealthShare website for a more in-depth discussion of pre-existing conditions and the provisional program.

*If the Sharing Member has a prior condition but has gone 12 months as an active member without any symptoms, treatment or medication, then expenses arising from such a condition may be eligible for sharing. A physician's statement verifying the lapse of treatment, symptoms or medication may be required.

**Conditions that exist at the time of enrollment that have evidenced symptoms and or received treatments in the past 24 months are not eligible for sharing whether they are disclosed on the application or not.
